The results table shows the domains that are related to that topic. Links from these websites will have a positive influence on the search engine rankings of your own website.

Many of these websites can also be good business partners, and/or they can blog about your website.

2. Search engine news and articles of the week
Google: JavaScript indexing is "on and off"

"In a webmaster hangout on YouTube, Google’s John Mueller said that you should not rely on Google indexing or ignoring content in JavaScript and AJAX. [...]

If you want to make sure that Google indexes your content, better do not hide it in JavaScript or AJAX. Google might or might not index it."

GoogleGoogle’s classic link operator showing signs of being turned off for good?

"Link discovery and management is often considered an important aspect of one’s SEO services, and historically, SEOs used a special search operator from Google to find these links. The operator was in the format of a search on [link:www.domain.com]. [...]

Another interesting move was that Google removed the link operator from their search operators page a few weeks ago."

Editor's note: Google's link search operator stopped delivering good results years ago. If you're looking for a better backlink analysis tool, try www.OpenLinkProfiler.org.

Google: we don't want to clutter the search results with too many rich snippets

"Google has done several rich snippet reductions in the search results in the past. Of course Google only wants to show rich snippets where it makes sense and helps the searcher.

To show 10 out of 10 search results with rich snippets may sometimes make sense but often not. So that is why it is hard for a site to always show rich snippets in the search results. It is not just site specific, but also query dependent and other criteria."

WikimediaClarity on the future of Wikimedia search: no search engine

"We’re not building a global crawler search engine. We’re not building another, separate Wikimedia project. We’re committed to our mission of helping the world access and interact with free knowledge."

Google is removing all Right Hand Side Ads on SERPs worldwide

"As reported and confirmed by numerous sources, Google will no longer be showing AdWords ads on the right hand side of its search results pages. [...]

This roll-out will effect users worldwide in all languages and will bring the desktop experience closer to the mobile experience, although whether the amount of ads shown to mobile users will increase hasn’t been confirmed. [...]

For Paid Search advertisers the change will certainly drive up average CPCs as the competition for the top slots increases. It’s gonna get ugly."
