1. How to tell your boss that your company needs SEO
Having high search engine rankings is the key to the success of any online business. High rankings are the perfect way to get more website visitors, more customers and more sales. Not all business owners know this. Here's how to show your boss the importance of search engine optimization (SEO).

This helps a lot.

SEO presents your website to customers who are ready to buy
Search engine optimization helps you to get your website in front of potential customers:
  1. Your customers are on the Internet and they have money. People spend billions of dollars online. These people could be your customers.
  2. Your customers use search engines. Most Internet users find new websites through search engines. SEO makes sure that customers find your website instead of the sites of your competitors.
  3. Search engine users are some of the most qualified and motivated visitors that your website can have. They have taken the initiative to hunt for online resources on a certain topic, and then they clicked your link to learn more.

Your website will be seen by the people who want to buy your goods and services.

SEO makes sure that your customers see the right pages

If you do not optimize your web pages, then they won't get high rankings on Google and other search engines.

Not all websites can have high rankings. There are billions of web pages on the Internet. It's obvious that not all of them can be listed on the first results page on Google. Search engines only list web pages that they find relevant to a special keyword. You must make sure that your website is such a site.

If search engines cannot find out that your website is about fishing equipment, they cannot give your website high rankings for that keyword. The process of changing your web pages so that search engines find them relevant is called search engine optimization (SEO).

Search engine optimization helps you to get more customers. The tools in SEOprofiler help you to optimize your web pages as quickly and efficiently as possible.

In addition to that, SEOprofiler offers the tools that you need to track your success. If you haven't done it yet, create an SEOprofiler account now and see for yourself:

Google: it’s okay to list an URL twice in a disavow links file
"In a tweet, Google’s John Mueller said that it was okay to list an URL twice in a disavow links file: 'Duplicates don't cause problems (but make your maintenance harder). I sort text-files before submitting.'"

Editor's note: if you want to find bad backlinks that can hurt the rankings of your website, use the link disinfection tool in SEOprofiler.

GoogleNegative SEO is real & Google needs to fix it

"There is no doubt that the perception in the industry is that negative SEO is a problem. So much so, that in our last poll, only 11% thought negative SEO doesn't work. Now that we have 'white hat' clients requesting negative SEO and and most SEOs feel it is easy to do, it is an issue. [...]

It is an issue and I strongly think Google needs to think hard about this and try to fix it."

Google Mobile’s Flash warnings now rolling out to more languages

"In July, Google began labeling the mobile search results that had results from Flash enabled sites with mobile warnings. The warning cautioned mobile users from clicking to the site, by showing a notice that reads: 'Uses Flash. May not work on your device. Try anyway | Learn more.'

That warning is rolling out to more international languages today."

GoogleGoogle: tracking mobile usability in Webmaster Tools

"A mobile-friendly site is one that you can easily read & use on a smartphone, by only having to scroll up or down. Swiping left/right to search for content, zooming to read text and use UI elements, or not being able to see the content at all make a site harder to use for users on mobile phones.

To help, the Mobile Usability reports show the following issues: Flash content, missing viewport (a critical meta-tag for mobile pages), tiny fonts, fixed-width viewports, content not sized to viewport, and clickable links/buttons too close to each other."

Google AdWords: monitor the performance of your automated extensions
"we’re rolling out a new report in AdWords that shows you how your ads perform when they appear with automated extensions [...]

Keep in mind Google already optimizes your ads to show the most relevant ad extensions, generally showing your highest performing and most useful combination of extensions and formats among those eligible."
