1. How to do a professional SEO audit of your website
Doing a regular audit of your web pages is important if you want to make sure that search engines can index all of your pages. The more pages your website has, the more likely it is that there are many errors that have to be corrected.

Even if your web pages were error free when you published them, there can be several things that you have to fix: links can get broken, servers can have problems, there might be duplicate content issues, etc.

All of these errors can have a negative influence on the search engine rankings of your web pages. The website audit tool helps you to make sure that your web pages do not contain errors that can cause problems with search engines.

Regular website audits, fully automatic

The new website audit tool in SEOprofiler automatically checks your web pages once per week. Then you get a report that shows all the issues that should be corrected. By correcting these issues, you make sure that search engines can index all of your pages correctly. Here’s a screenshot of the overview page:

A clearly arranged overview of the errors on your pages

The website audit tool checks 47 different error types that can influence the position of your web pages on Google. The pages panel shows the number of errors that we found on each page:

Fix errors as quickly as possible

To view the details of a page, click the URL of a page in the list or click the ‘Details’ links. The details show the exact things that have to be corrected:

In addition to the pages and links on your website, the audit tool also checks the robots.txt file of your site, and it creates XML Sitemaps that you can submit to Google or Bing.

Make sure that Google gets all of your web pages

We strongly recommend that you use the new website audit tool with your website. Some customers thought that there was an error in the audit tool just because it found so many errors. As it turned out, their websites were full of errors that caused problems with search engines.

You can use the new website audit tool for just $1 and it is something that you should do if you want to make sure that Google can index all of your web pages.
2. Search engine news and articles of the wee

UK: Google's search market share drops below 90% for second month in a row

"Google’s market share dropped below 90% for the second month in a row to 88%; its lowest point for five years.

Clearly Google still has a near monopoly on the UK search market, but Microsoft and Yahoo will still be pleased that they are finally clawing back market share, no matter how small the increments."

Why does Google still reward content scraping?

"Google's technological reality is probably more complicated that it looks: The Huffington Post's stub text is surrounded by links and tweets and comments, many of which connect to other sites with very good PageRank values. And an algorithm might not have the same ability to quickly intuit that a large page with dozens of elements is really just a tiny repost of another, and that those elements don't add much of value."

StatisticsMicrosoft: 15 Percent increase in online advertising driven by search

"Online Services (including Bing/Advertising): $869 million (11 percent increase and a smaller loss vs. last year) [...]

Microsoft said that online advertising revenue grew 15 percent, 'driven by an increase in revenue per search.'"

Google releases faster image search

"Based on feedback from both users and webmasters, we redesigned Google Images to provide a better search experience. In the next few days, you’ll see image results displayed in an inline panel so it’s faster, more beautiful, and more reliable."

Marissa MayerYahoo's Mayer: personalization is future of search (video)

A key to search personalization will be the incorporation of numerous inputs and signals: search history, location, social data, etc. Marissa Mayer mentioned the 'interest graph', which represents all the available information that will enable personalization of content delivery in many ways."
