1. Five reasons why your business must use SEO

SEO (search engine optimization) is an investment that no business can ignore. If you use search engine optimization correctly, you can make sure that your business gets high rankings on search engines, attracts the right customers and makes more money.

SEO reasons

Reason 1: SEO offers access to billions of dollars

Your customers use the Internet to research purchases. Online shoppers are spending billions of dollars. Your website has to be discovered by these people. SEO makes sure that online shoppers find your website and not the websites of your competitors.

Reason 2: SEO helps you to get new customers

86% of in-store buyers conduct online searches before purchasing. 80% rely on this information to make a decision. Search engine optimization helps you to get these customers.

Reason 3: SEO has a high conversion rate

SEO enables you to tailor your website to the needs of your customers. If your SEO activities target the right customers with the right keywords in the right buying cycle, your sales will increase dramatically. Modern SEO tools can help you to find the best keywords for your business.

Reason 4: SEO helps you to understand your website visitors

Some websites don't make money although they serve a huge market. By creating and tracking targeted landing pages that focus on different issues and problems, you can find the issues that are most important to your customers.

Reason 5: SEO is cost effective

The good thing about an SEO campaign is that it doesn't stop as soon as you stop paying (AdWords). An SEO campaign that uses white-hat SEO methods will offer lasting results that lead to a steady flow of new customers to your website.

2. Search engine news and articles of the week

GoogleGoogle introduces a new meta tag for articles

"We’re excited to announce a news_keywords metatag. The goal is simple: empower news writers to express their stories freely while helping Google News to properly understand and classify that content so that it’s discoverable by our wide audience of users. [...]

Similar in spirit to the plain keywords metatag, the news_keywords metatag lets publishers specify a collection of terms that apply to a news article. These words don’t need to appear anywhere within the headline or body text."

Google advanced search options not working for many

In several online discussion forums, people complain that Google's advanced search options are not working.

For some the 'narrow your results' options are disabled. The problem happens with all web browsers.

GoogleGoogle announces another Panda update

"Panda refresh is rolling out—expect some flux over the next few days. Fewer than 0.7% of queries noticeably affected."

Google and Facebook display share to climb 23% by 2014

"Google and Facebook are by far the dominant players in the display ad space, together expected to command 30% of the overall market in 2012. And their substantial lead is set to become even greater, according to an eMarketer report that predicts the two will sell 37% of all display ads by the end of 2014."

Google improves the rich snippet testing tool

"We’ve improved how we display rich snippets in the testing tool to better match how they appear in search results.

The brand new visual design makes it clearer what structured data we can extract from the page, and how that may be shown in our search results."
